I actually had just gotten my freebie emergency alert radio in the mail a couple days before and hadn't even taken it out of the box yet, but when I realized the kiddos bus was already 15 minutes late and ventured a look-see out the window, I hurried and plugged that bad boy in!
Tornado's a comin'! Tornado's a comin'!!!
So I flipped on the TV and checked out the radar thingy. I watched it approaching and called Brian at work who said that everyone at the plant was shut into this one room (4,000 peeps!) and that his co-worker got a call from her son who goes to my kiddos school and rides a bus home. The kids are all waiting out the storm at the High School. At least they were together and hopefully putting their sibling rivalry aside to comfort/reassure one another. I really wanted them home though.
I called Julie up the road from me to make sure she knew, 'cause last time she was hanging out on her bed with a bowl of soup and a movie and barely made it to her bathroom when the tornado hit and blew out her bedroom window! Eeeeek! She knew.
Erin and I gathered up a bunch of snacks and flashlights and headed to the basement, where she promptly opened all the food by herself (she was very proud) and I promptly went to the window (duh) to see what was going on. It started to hail like CRAZY! It was awesome. And I can only say that because nothing bad happened. We only got the outside bit of it and no real damage done. I did find a shingle in the driveway today though. And Boy did it smell like pine! Loved it - 'cause nothing bad happened. Except Brian said it blew off three doors at the plant.
He's about 7 minutes away from home.
Here are some pictures.
Except the landscaping. We still have a ton of work there.
I stuck my foot out there so you could see the size of the ice balls in relation to a size 8.
I just happened to have painted those little piggies the day before. I usually don't in the winter because I'm always wearing socks, but I felt I needed a little hidden color. Like a secret. The secret is out. oh well. It's just toes.
So goes the excitement of a Mormon girls 'wild' side.
Painted toenails in the winter...
Oooooo. Eerie. See the swing?
do you love the music? Lord of the Rings. Riders of Rohan.
I am so ready to hunker down and watch that trilogy again. Start to finish. So good.

I'm so glad everyone is okay and no one is hurt. I'll be honestly--I have a weird fascination/fear of tornadoes. Right when you started talking about them I couldn't turn away...even though I'm guaranteed to have one of my scary, crazy twister nightmares tonight (just ask Trent). The pictures are awesome. And once again--I'm glad everyone's okay.
You all got a lot more hail then we did...isn't it crazy that we can only be a few miles apart, but how different the weather can be? Glad we are all safe!
Whoa! My friend who grew up in Alabama kinda shuttered when I told her you lived in Anniston, because nobody lives in Anniston she said. It's like tornado mania.
So move.
Your pictures are AWESOME!
It's gorgeous--but tornadoes?? Scary stuff!
Yeah, have you seen all the trees down around the Golden Springs area? Crazy! You don't realize how blessed you are until you see one of your neighbors with a tree through the roof!
uh I almost started crying when I heard the tornado alarms sound off! It was really scary. glad you are safe. :)
You crack me....I love how your music matches the "theme" of your post...sounded very eerie for sure. That must have been a fun ?? storm....I, like you, think that is awesome and FUN ( if no bodies and blood are involved) AND ... I love your "wild side' painted toe nails in the winter. YOU ARE SHAMLESS.
