Grandma and Grandpa Dewsnup.
We had a great time! The weather cleared up just before we got there and didn't start raining again until we were walking out to the car when we were through. Gotta love that!
I loved how many animal encounters we had there.
My favorite was the Lorrakeet enclosure. You paid for a little cup of nectar and went in to see the birds. It didn't take long for the birds to fly right down and land on you hand, arms, shoulders, head...where ever they could find footing. Nash was the only one of the kiddos that didn't totally hate the experience.
It startled him when the first bird landed on him, but that was only the beginning!
It took a little getting used to as you can see from the look on my face, but after a minute I had birds all over and it was really really cool.

We also got to feed the Flamingos.
The kids were scared of that too at first, but they warmed up to it
after I forced their hands out there.
Sometimes you just have to make them try.

He was okay with that.

I didn't get to capture the actual tongue of that giraffe, but I tell you it was quite impressive. And black. We fed that guy some pellets. Cool.

(I liked it.)
I love the Zoo!
I watched a show when I was a small child in Canada about a family that ran a zoo.
Their house was in the middle of the zoo! They had a pet chimp.
I dreamed of having my home in the zoo and taking care of all the animals.
But, Alas...I have allergies. Can't really touch many hairy animals.
Bummer.
Still, We LOVE the Zoo!
